Information
on Kayak Tours |
|||||
| The Best Guided Kayak Tours. Skamokawa Center is the gateway to the best paddling on the Lower Columbia River, including the Lewis and Clark Water Trail. It has an abundance of the qualities paddlers value most – great beauty, wildlife in natural habitats, islands to explore, and special places of solitude. Our guides are expert instructors and well versed in the human and natural history of the area. | |||||
| Variety of Experience. The geology of the Lower Columbia has created strikingly different habitats and scenery in a relatively small area, from 90-foot basalt cliffs to quiet Sitka Spruce swamps to grassy tidal marsh islands in the wide expanse of the Columbia channel. These areas, in turn, each have their own history. The stories, like the places, intertwine to create a remarkable experience for the paddler. Each of our tours provides something unique. Expert naturalist/historian guides share their knowledge and insights with you and respond to your special interests. | |||||
| Skill Levels. Kayak tours listed below are suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. First, paddlers are matched to the kayak in our fleet that best suits them. Guides provide kayak instruction, teaching paddlers the skills they require to handle waters involved, and then will keep close tabs and help with skills along the way. Tours are planned to go with the flow of the tide. They allow plenty of time for exploration and photography. | |||||
