full moon paddle

A magical time by moonlight in a setting that touches your soul. The mood is one of adventure and discovery. As you move silently over the water a Great Blue Heron lifts slowly from the shore. A beaver slaps its tail against the water and disappears in a shower of spray. Great Horned Owls call to each other across the slough. A big yellow moon rises over the still waters of Steamboat Slough. Join us for an unforgettable experience.

Full Moon Paddle through Steamboat Slough.
Our senses were filled with a full moon calmness, serenity, and lots of wild noises! Beaver tails slapping a warning on the water, Swainson’s Thrush trilling, Mergansers discussing whatever it was, an Osprey nest, owls hooting and screeching, shadows of bats darting about, Great Blue Herons gliding across, and smolts jumping, and our guide Andrew filled with environmental knowledge and history.
