Finding Skamokawa
From the Portland or Seattle area,
take I-5 to Exit 36: Longview/Ocean Beaches.
A bit more than 2 miles after the exit, take the exit marked 3rd Ave./Indust.
Area. At the light, turn left (Hwy. 432 West). Continue for 7.6
miles. After a sweeping right curve you will reach the traffic light
at State Route 4. Turn left and follow SR
4 for 25.5 miles to Skamokawa, which is 6 miles past Cathlamet.
Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to drive to Skamokawa from Portland, 3+ hours
from Seattle.
Skamokawa Center: After entering Skamokawa you
will pass the Duck Inn on your left. Just beyond it is easy-to-miss
Steamboat Slough Road on the left. Turn left here. (If you go over
the Skamokawa Creek bridge, you have gone too far.) Skamokawa Center
is immediately on your right. After you turn in, you will pass a
small one-story building on your left (the office) and then the
General Store Building (store, café, post office, Skamokawa
Inn).
