friends and family - custom tours

Skamokawa Center offers a broad range of personalized travel choices for groups of six or more. We arrange custom tours for groups of all sizes including family reunion vacations, corporate retreats, youth group trips, providing adventures and more!
Relive the epic journey of Lewis and Clark. See a world that remains much as they saw it 200 years ago.
Kayak through river history along shoreline pilings where canneries, lumber mills, and whole towns once thrived.
Explore strikingly diverse habitats, ancient Sitka spruce swamps, tidal marsh islands, upland forests, and basalt cliffs, and the flora and fauna that thrive there.
Here is what we suggest:
1. Consider Options. Look at all the tours we offer and take note of the things that interest you most – wildlife, wildflowers, Lewis and Clark, river history. Or maybe serendipity is your thing. You would like to go with the flow, paddling easily where the tide takes you, in and out of the sloughs, up and down Skamokawa Creek, with surprises at every turn. Your guide will keep you out of trouble.
2. Kayak Plus. Think about how long you want to spend at Skamokawa Center. Perhaps you would like to combine a day or two on the water with other activities – hiking, biking, fishing, golf (5 courses within 50 miles), visits to Ft. Clatsop, Cape Disappointment and other sightseeing spots. Skamokawa Center is a great base for touring.
3. Mix and Match. Talk with us and let us help you work out a program that fits your interests and your budget. You have several mix and match choices.
A group of you may want to take a scheduled kayak tour but stay together overnight or, possibly, for another day or two. Rather than staying in double rooms in Skamokawa Inn, we can set you up in a suite with decks and fireplace and room for 7 to 10.
We arrange a private custom one or two-day tour for your group with rooms at the Inn or a Shoreline Apartment.
The Post Office Café meets your snack and meal needs. You can plan your menus from an extensive list of choices. Or, if you are in an apartment, you have the choice of cooking some or all of your own meals.

Sightseeing. Here is a Lewis and Clark road tour from Skamokawa to the Pacific suggested by the Sierra Club: Highway 4 (SR4) west to Rosburg; narrow road to the Columbia River at Altoona, back to SR4; at 401 go south along the Naselle River to the Columbia where the road joins 101; continue on to Ilwaco and Cape Disappointment or cross over to Astoria and Ft. Clatsop.

Golf. Skyline, Cathlamet (7 miles), 9-hole with dual tees for 18 holes, hilly with friendly atmosphere, par 70. Mint Valley, Longview (27 miles), 18-hole, putting green, flat course, easy to walk, strategically placed bunkers and lakes challenge shot making, par 71. Three Rivers, Kelso (30 miles), 18-hole, driving range, mostly flat, some hills, built on Mt. St. Helens ash, par 72. Peninsula. What a wonderful place to spend a week! A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend time with my dad while learning about Lewis and Clark, his passion. Weather was unbelievably good all week. My first time in a kayak and it was a blast. Our hosts were great. Thanks for the excellent meals. Wildlife was amazing and plentiful. I really liked the larger birds of prey – Bald Eagles, Falcons, Osprey. Morning runs along the wildlife reserve were excellent. This has darn near been a perfect week.

Stayed two nights in the delightful cozy room with the magnificent view. We highly recommend the golf course in Cathlamet. An amazing sunset on the 8th green. And two-for-one if you are staying here at the Inn! A delightful respite.
